Chapter Projects and Activities
Although membership is defined by our ancestors, the DAR is more than a lineage society. It is also a service organization with projects that can enrich our local community as well as communities throughout the United States and around the world.
Every year our Los Angeles-Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR, makes a generous donation to the National Society to aid in financing projects of the Society. Some of these projects include our DAR Museum collection, DAR Library, DAR scholarships and DAR schools.
Within our own community, the Los Angeles-Eschscholtzia Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to support:
- Active military and service to veterans
- Citizenship and literacy
- Good citizenship and support for the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) programs in our public schools and universities
- Community service awards to active community leaders
- Promoting American history in our schools through the American History and Christopher Columbus essay contests
- Historic preservation of landmarks and artifacts
- Celebration of historic and commemorative events
There is something of interest for everyone. We invite members to find their passion and become involved.
By the way... Did you know that the NSDAR currently holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the most letters sent to the active military in one month? The number of letters sent was 100,904!
